Pre Symposium Expedition

For those more adventurous, before the symposium, we have planned a backpacking expedition to The Nevado de Toluca. It is located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) west of Mexico City near the city of Toluca.

With 4680 meters above sea level, is one of the highest peaks of Mexico after Pico de Orizaba, Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl. The Nevado de Toluca is considered a National Natural Park, with impressive mountain views and amazing forest trails to hike through.

• Backpacking
• Amanalco – Valle de Bravo Watershed
• 4th highest mountain in Mexico
• Deep Ecology, Nature Flow Learning
• Outward Bound Expedition

This will be our first ever Americas’ Staff Symposium in México and we are so excited to be your hosts. We believe that by working together, creating stronger networks, bonds and sharing knowledge within Outward Bound itself we can only get better.

Outward Bound Americas’ Staff Symposium 2020

Corral de Piedra

Outward Bound Americas’
Staff Symposium Destination for 2020

A nature reserve and one of the most beautiful, imposing valleys within the highland region of the State of Mexico. It’s approximately a 2.5hr drive using our transit from Mexico City.

Corral de Piedra is surrounded by wooded mountains that harbor huge rock monoliths, these monoliths look a bit like a large corral if you have a good look, hence the name. The reserve is home to some of the highest trees in the country, predominantly  Ocotes and Oyameles.

This is a mystical and abundant site, it’s the cradle of springs and rivers that nourish the ‘Valle de Bravo-Amanalco’ hydrological basin, resting place and an important destination for the Monarch Butterfly.
